Determining the date !

Planning the move end to end and determining the date :

As allof you know, this is the most hardest part of any move from one location to another. I can tell you from my own experience that determination of this, and sticking to this date is the most hard part. There are lots of "what If'" and "But" and "How" questions, that arise during this phase.
But believe me, there is an answer to all these questions, but may not be at the time you dtermine the date for the first time.

Do decide on a date first. How do you come to that date ? It can be any thing from personal belief , reason or from the fact that, that date best fits you and your family circumstances. Once you decide a date and keep that in your mind, and start planning other tasks around that date. Then you will be able to find answers to many questions.

In our case, we determined a date well in advance on Jan 1st. We determined the date to be end of March (even though we were not sure on the exact date, we had determined it has to be in last week of March). This helped us march towards that date with list of items to be completed.

Do keep in mind, that determining a date is the most important step in your move plan. Talk to your immediate family, when you come up with this date, so that it is convinient to all. Once you have a date in mind, you can always change it at worst case scenario in last minute.
Hi there. This is my second post regarding the move experience. After days and months of planning, we have finally landed in Bangalore now, and have made so far a successful move.
Its been 2 weeks now, and still getting used to few things here, an setting up infrastructure like stay, utilities etc etc.

I would like to write more about the move preparation and planning we did in the past 2 months, which led to out transition back home. In the next few posts I will cover following list of items, and will try to add as much information as possible,

Points that I will cover in my blog are :

o Planning the move end to end and determining the dates.
o Selecting a shipping company and evaluating their service.
o What to pack and what not to pack for shipping.
o Reservation guidelines for airlines, and planning for what to take with you when you fly.
o Closing apartment/home and selling household items before move.
o Little bit on financial planning.
o Misc ( Settling Bills, mail forwarding friends and family meeting, office work etc :))
o Finally having fun and not getting frustrated while doing all of the above ;)

This is a blog wriiten by me to share my experience of my move from US to India. I hope this blog will provide many required informations for folks planning this kind of relocation in the future.
